About the role

We are seeking a Manager, User Experience to join SolarWinds’ UX team in Bangalore. This is a player-coach role for an experienced UX leader who is equally motivated by developing people and shaping complex product experiences through hands-on design work.

As a manager, you will coach and support UX designers, strengthen design quality, and help the team do its best work. As a Staff-level UX practitioner, you will personally lead high-impact initiatives for SolarWinds Service Desk, our cloud-based IT service management (ITSM) platform. You will work from discovery and problem definition through research, interaction design, validation, and delivery, partnering closely with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to create intuitive, consistent, accessible, and valuable experiences for B2B customers. Learn more about the product on the SolarWinds Service Desk product page.

What you’ll do

Lead as a manager and coach

  • Manage, coach, and develop UX designers, supporting their growth, effectiveness, and career progression.

  • Set clear expectations for UX quality, collaboration, and delivery while creating an inclusive and supportive team environment.

  • Provide thoughtful feedback, facilitate design critique, and promote consistent design practices across the team.

  • Help allocate UX capacity and prioritize work in partnership with product and engineering leaders.

Contribute as a Staff-level UX practitioner

  • Lead complex, high-impact UX initiatives across product areas, from discovery and problem definition through design validation and delivery.

  • Conduct or guide user research, usability evaluations, and other discovery activities to understand customer needs and validate solutions.

  • Develop workflows, user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and other design artifacts for complex enterprise software experiences.

  • Translate customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints into clear, effective product experiences.

  • Establish direction in ambiguous problem spaces and influence product strategy through strong customer-centered design thinking.

  • Drive design quality across cross-functional teams by facilitating design reviews, feedback sessions, and alignment workshops.

  • Promote the adoption and evolution of design systems, reusable patterns, and accessibility standards across product teams.

  • Partner closely with product managers, product owners, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver cohesive experiences.

  • Communicate design rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to audiences ranging from individual contributors to senior leaders.

  • Use feedback, customer insights, and product outcomes to continuously improve the experiences we deliver.

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years of experience in user experience, product design, interaction design, or a related field.

  • Experience managing, mentoring, or developing UX/product designers.

  • Demonstrated experience leading UX initiatives for enterprise software or other complex digital products.

  • Professional experience designing UX for B2B products, ideally enterprise SaaS, ITSM, service management, or other workflow-intensive products.

  • A strong record of hands-on, end-to-end UX contribution at a Staff or equivalent level.

  • Strong knowledge of user research, usability testing, interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, and design validation.

  • The ability to move comfortably between strategic leadership, detailed design work, and people management.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate user needs and business requirements into clear, effective, and measurable product experiences.

  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams and guiding design quality without relying solely on formal authority.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • A portfolio demonstrating complex problem solving, end-to-end UX work, leadership, and measurable product impact in B2B and enterprise contexts.

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Portfolio submission

Please include a portfolio as part of your application, either as a link to an online portfolio or as a PDF attachment. Your portfolio should include examples of UX work that are relevant to B2B and enterprise software—ideally products with complex workflows, service-management use cases, or functionality comparable to SolarWinds Service Desk. Please highlight your individual contribution, the problems you addressed, your design process, and the impact of the work.

Why this role matters

This role will help SolarWinds raise the quality and consistency of customer experiences while strengthening the UX team through effective coaching and leadership. Success will require both the ability to develop people and the credibility to contribute directly to the most complex and strategically important design challenges.
