Key responsibilities
Own the capacity plan. Maintain short-, medium-, and long-range supply and demand plans. Reconcile customer commitments and consumption trends with procurement, deployment, and qualification timelines. Identify shortages and excess capacity early.
Apply engineering judgment. Translate workload demand into usable capacity, accounting for hardware compatibility, regional constraints, performance, and resilience headroom. Work with engineering to validate assumptions and distinguish installed inventory from capacity customers can use.
Manage allocations and commitments. Drive allocation decisions within agreed policies. Support strategic accounts with credible availability dates and mitigation options. Escalate conflicts with quantified customer impact and a recommended resolution.
Improve utilization and economics. Identify stranded, idle, or inefficiently allocated capacity. Partner with engineering and finance on rebalancing, reclamation, or deployment improvements, measuring cost and utilization benefits while preserving service objectives.
Own forecast quality and data integrity. Validate demand and supply data, investigate forecast errors and bias, and maintain traceable assumptions. Use scenarios to expose risks and improve decisions.
Automate recurring work. Define requirements and deliver improvements to capacity data pipelines, reconciliation, forecasting, allocation workflows, and alerts. Use analytics and scripting where appropriate, and verify improvements in cycle time and data quality.
Drive execution and recovery. Resolve readiness gaps and dependencies across service, infrastructure, and supply teams. Recover delayed capacity and turn recurring issues into improvements within the domain.
Qualifications
Experience independently owning capacity planning, infrastructure delivery, or technical programs with engineering teams, including measurable improvements in availability, utilization, forecast quality, or cost.
Technical understanding of GPU compute, storage, or server infrastructure, including relevant performance constraints, deployment dependencies, and operation of production cloud services.
Strong analytical skills with SQL, planning models, and operational data. Ability to test assumptions, assess supply and demand scenarios, and translate findings into decisions. Scripting or workflow automation experience is preferred.
Proven ability to resolve dependencies across teams, support customer commitments, and communicate clearly. Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
