As a Senior Staff Quality Control (QC) Engineer, you will be the senior technical authority for construction quality across Crusoe's mission-critical data center campus. You will own the site-level quality strategy and set the standards, processes, and expectations that general contractors, trade partners, and internal teams execute against — from design review and equipment manufacturing through installation, inspection, commissioning readiness, and final turnover.
This is a high-impact, field-based leadership role at the intersection of construction, MEP systems, engineering, supply chain, and commissioning. You will lead through influence, mentor QC engineers and inspectors, and shape how Crusoe builds quality into its programs as we scale — because at our scale, quality directly drives uptime, performance, speed to power, and long-term reliability.
What You'll Be Working On
Own and lead the site-level QA/QC program for large-scale, mission-critical data center construction, serving as the senior technical authority on quality for the campus
Author, implement, and continuously improve the Site-Level Quality Management Plan, ensuring alignment with Crusoe's enterprise quality standards and contractual requirements
Define the standard for Inspection Test Plans, checklists, hold/witness points, and inspection workflows across all scopes; review and approve contractor ITPs and quality plans
Lead and perform complex field inspections across civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and commissioning-related scopes, with deep emphasis on critical MEP systems (medium/low-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, liquid and air cooling, and controls)
Influence quality upstream by participating in design, constructability, and submittal reviews to identify quality and reliability risks before they reach the field
Partner with supply chain and OEMs on equipment quality, including factory acceptance testing (FAT), factory witness tests, source inspections, and receiving inspections for long-lead and critical equipment
Audit general contractor and subcontractor quality management systems; drive corrective action and hold partners accountable to contractual quality requirements, escalating when necessary
Lead coordination with AHJs and third-party special inspectors on code compliance, inspection sign-offs, and documentation requirements
Own the deficiency, punch list, and non-conformance (NCR) process through closure, including disposition of complex or high-risk NCRs in partnership with engineering
Partner with commissioning leadership to define and drive pre-functional and functional readiness criteria (L1–L5) and ensure systems enter commissioning with minimal rework
Lead structured root cause analysis (RCA, 5-Why, 8D, fishbone) for significant defects, failed inspections, and recurring issues, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained
Establish quality KPIs and dashboards (first-time quality, NCR aging, rework rates, inspection pass rates) and use data and defect trends to drive measurable improvement
Capture and share lessons learned across Crusoe's portfolio, contributing to enterprise quality standards, templates, and specifications for future sites
Mentor and develop QC engineers, inspectors, and field teams, raising the technical bar and building a culture of quality ownership
Ensure turnover documentation — test reports, as-builts, O&M manuals, and quality records — is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
Communicate quality status, risks, and trends to project and executive leadership, escalating early to protect schedule, commissioning, turnover, and operations
What Success Looks Like
The site quality program is clearly defined, consistently executed, and recognized as a model for other Crusoe sites
Critical MEP systems enter commissioning ready, with measurable reductions in rework, failed tests, and late-stage defects
Quality issues are caught upstream — in design review, at the factory, or at receiving — rather than in the field
Contractors and trade partners consistently meet Crusoe's quality standards, with clear accountability and closed-loop corrective actions
Deficiencies, punch items, and NCRs are closed promptly, with quality KPIs trending in the right direction
Turnover documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready on first submission
Leadership has clear, data-driven visibility into quality status, risk, and readiness
Lessons learned are captured and adopted into enterprise standards, reducing repeat issues across the portfolio
QC team members grow in technical capability and ownership under your mentorship
