Strategic Business Development Representative

We are looking for highly driven individuals with strong technical aptitude and natural sales instincts to join our growing sales organization. As a Strategic Business Development Representative (BDR) at Algolia, you will play a critical role prospecting and expanding both new business and expansion opportunities for our Strategic team. You will take part in a wide variety of responsibilities that will help foster, qualify, and mature our pipeline with high-profile, top logo accounts. We need someone with a hunter attitude who thrives in autonomy.
The accounts on your list are the best of the best, and they are not easy to get into. Their inboxes are crowded, their buying groups are guarded, and generic outreach gets ignored. As a Strategic BDR, your job is to earn the conversation. You will work out why this account, why this person, and why now, then show up with a sharp point of view on where Algolia can improve their search and discovery. That means studying each account's business, tech stack, and trigger events, building multi-threaded plans with your AE, and using every channel and format that cuts through, from a tailored teardown to a screencast or personal video. Our team shares what works and what doesn't, so you'll sharpen fast and help others do the same.
YOUR ROLE WILL CONSIST OF:
- Own the strategy for your Strategic accounts with your Strategic Account Executive, with regular 1:1s to agree on target buyers, entry points, and account plans
- Research each account to understand why they would buy and why now: business priorities, tech stack, search and discovery gaps, and trigger events like replatforms, new leadership, and hiring
- Build a sharp point of view for every account and persona on where Algolia can improve their search and discovery, and bring it to every touch
- Break in with multi-threaded, highly personalized outreach across email, phone, and LinkedIn, plus creative formats like tailored teardowns, screencasts, and personal videos
- Partner with Marketing, ABM, and cross-functional teams on a swarm strategy for top logos, including events and dinners
- Turn conversations into qualified pipeline and keep SFDC current on your activities and results
- Share what works and what doesn't with the team and take part in Sales Development projects
- 1.5+ years of experience in outbound prospecting and pipeline generation (SaaS experience required, Ecommerce experience preferred)
- A self-starter mindset with a competitive drive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to change
- Demonstrated success overachieving (professionally/personally)
- Comfort working strategically and autonomously alongside Account Executives on high-profile accounts
- An interest in the tech industry

The annual total cash compensation range (base salary and commission) for this role reflects market pay data within this location. The exact compensation offered for this role may vary depending on specific location and job-related knowledge, technical skills, and experience; and is only one part of our Total Rewards philosophy to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
On-Target Earnings Pay Range
$100,000—$115,000 USD
